Glass Tile Installation Tools

Like most do-it-yourself projects, a hassle-free glass tile installation involves knowing what tools you’ll need to do the job and understanding how to use them properly. Most tiling projects can be completed with a few specific tiling tools and a few toolbox standards. Here’s a list of the ones we think you’ll need, all of which are available in our Accessories Store. Stock up on tools while you’re purchasing tiles to make sure you have everything you need to begin you project as soon as you receive your shipment of Susan Jablon Mosaics' glass tiles!

V Notch Trowel for grout work when installing Susan Jablon's Mosiac Glass Tile

Trowels: The most important tool for glass tile installations, a trowel is a thin flat tool used to apply and spread thinset and grout.  We recommend using a multi-purpose 3/16-inch V-Notch Trowel. Spread thinset and grout quickly and evenly, and easily remove excess grout from the surface to tiles using the flat edge of the tool. Use the bumpy, V-Notched edge to comb even ridges into thinset. A pie shaped trowel is a handy tool for spreading adhesives in tight corners and around outlets.

Glass Nippers and Chippers are what you need for cutting Susan Jablon's Glass Mosiac Tiles.

Glass Nippers and Chippers: These cutters will help you shape glass tiles to fit your installation space. Visit Glass Tile Cutting Tools for more information.

Grouting Sponges for grout clean up after installing Susan Jablon's Glass Mosiac Tile.

Grouting Sponges: Use a damp grouting sponge for general post-installation clean-up. Soft and resilient, these sponges are perfect for use with glass tiles.

Grouting Scrubbies for cleaning Susan Jablon's Glass Mosiac Tiles with Sulfamic Acid Crystals.

Grout Scrubbie: The only thing better than the name of this handy tool is how well it works to clean cured grout from the surface of tiles. Tough enough to be used with Acid Crystal Cleaner without scratching the surface of Susan Jablon Mosaic Tiles.

Handy Stanley snap knife for slicing Susan Jablon's Glass Tile tape open after installation. Multi-Purpose Knife: Don’t forget the basics. Keep a sharp handyman’s knife around to open packages, cut tape, and remove paper from the front of tiles. If you don’t have one at home, we recommend Stanley’s QuickPoint Snap-Off Knife. Dull or grout-covered blades can be easily snapped off, eliminating the need to constantly replace old blades.
